JCAM HORIZON CLUB
The JCAM HORIZON CLUB is an independent group of mature people who are 55 and older, and who enjoy companionship, good food, fun and games. One of the club’s main goals is to reduce social isolation, and to provide opportunities to maintain old friendships and make new ones.
WEEKLY MEETINGS
The group meets every Wednesday from September to November, takes a holiday break and returns in February until June. You can find members at the JCAM Cultural Centre from around 10 am through to as late as 6 pm.
WHAT WE USUALLY DO
- Exercise class starts around 10:30 am
- Lunch 12 noon (prepared by Horizon members)
- Games – including regular card games and occasionally bingo and other fun group things
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST
Membership fee is $5 per year (You must be at least 55 years young)
Lunches: $4 for members, $5 for guests
Everything else is free
TO JOIN US, JUST SHOW UP ON A WEDNESDAY. YOU’LL BE WELCOMED WITH OPEN ARMS AND A GREAT LUNCH!
During 2018-2019 we enjoyed the following events:
- Fall market (a lot of home grown produce)
- Thanksgiving lunch – roast turkey with all the fixin’s
- Christmas lunch – Sukiyaki
- Shinnenkai party
- Easter lunch – Shabu Shabu
- Beiju celebration
- Two South Beach Casino trips – October & May
- Meet the Ambassador of Japan to Canada His Excellency Ambassador Kimihiro Ishikane
- Natsu No Atsumari lunch – catered by Izakaya Edokko
