Naomi Krasovec

I am the third of four siblings born to Hisao and Toki Kuwada. I am a Bachelor of Arts graduate of the University of Manitoba and a registered Health Information Management practitioner. I retired in 2009 after 34 years as a Program Coordinator for the Health Technology program at Red River College.
I have been a volunteer in this Japanese community since 1970, first since 1970, first with MJCCA as President, Vice-President, Secretary and Chair of Keirokai and Children’s Christmas party, food coordinator for Folklorama and liaison for the Setagaya-Sister City relationship and English Editor of the Outlook.
With JCAM, I have volunteered on the Community Fund Committee and as the sushi coordinator for Folklorama. I have assisted the cuisine night events, private dining events and the homecooking classes. I am a member of the Horizon Club.
While volunteering with MJCCA, I felt we were privileged to have the invaluable counsel of senior members of the community, like Yoshimaru Abe and Harold Hirose. I believe given the unique history of the Japanese community here, their input can only enhance/educate where needed. I have advocated this for some time and now I have the opportunity to put this into action!
