I am a proud Yonsei, and my family immigrated to Canada before the Second World War. My grandparents experienced internment and forced relocation during the war. My connection to the Japanese Canadian community takes me back to my childhood; taking dancing lessons, participating in Folklorama, and visiting the center with my grandparents.
More recently I had the honour serving as an Adult Ambassador for Folklorama (2024), which reigniting my desire to become more involved with the JCAM community and contribute to its future.
Professionally I work in health care, where I have developed strong skills in communication, teamwork, organization, problem-solving, and working with people from diverse backgrounds. I hope to bring these skills along with my personal connection to JCAM.
I am honoured to support JCAM in continuing its important community work and growing and strengthening the center for future generations. With both my experience during the war, I feel a strong responsibility to help preserve their stories and those of others.
