Jordan Takenaka

I have lived in Winnipeg my whole life and have been trying to get more involved with the Japanese-Canadian community for the past couple of years. My family has been going to JCAM events for generations, and I want to help ensure future generations can experience the same fun my family has.
I started volunteering during Folklorama at the Japanese pavilion as part of the clean-up crew, and now I help with various events that the cultural centre holds. Some of the events that I help out with are Folklorama, Bon Odori, and Kids Club, which includes the Kids’ Halloween and Christmas parties.
Apart from JCAM, I am also on the board at the Transcona East End Community Centre and help with community events. I’m hoping to use my experience and insight from a different community centre to bring fresh ideas to JCAM.
I’m looking to contribute new ideas and activities the centre can host, and to also grow our community and preserve the future of the community centre.
