I’m eager to put my knowledge and experience to contribute to JCAM. I admire the work you’re doing in our community. I am passionate about the JCAM’s mission, and I believe I can contribute toward it in an impactful way.

Below is a list of background information as requested.  Involvement with the Japanese community: I am a member of New Comers’ club since 1998. I have taught Japanese language to adult students at JCAM, University of Manitoba and University of Winnipeg for many years. Other volunteer involvement (past and present): Public School Program, Folklorama, and the Japanese language program.

The particular skillset I am bringing to the Board: Bring in new and fresh perspectives as a filmmaker using the power of visual media. I have been shaping my own Japanese identity in the last 20 some years to grow into a balanced Japanese Canadian identity. I am passionate about connecting with people who are interested in any Japanese cultures. With a fresh take on the current community, I am hoping to reach out young Japanese Canadian generations to reconnect with JCAM as well as new Japanese immigrants in recent arrivals.

The areas of the Board I am interested in – I am interested in organizing the cultural events and Kimono preservation by applying public grant programs. I am also interested in PR (social media presence / website) to promote JCAM.
