Sarah Keating Sangalang
My name is Sarah Keating Sangalang, and I am interested in becoming a Director for the 2022-2024 term. I am yon-sei (4th Generation Japanese in Canada). Growing up in Winnipeg, the Japanese Cultural Centre has always been a place for me to learn about and maintain a personal connection with Japanese culture.
For the past 5 years, I have volunteered at the Folklorama Japanese Pavilion, and served as a committee member for the JCAM community fund. Being a part of the community fund in particular, has taught me some of the history of JCAM, and the importance of programs that nourish the Japanese Canadian community in Manitoba.
In 2013, I graduated from Dentistry at the University of Manitoba, and have since been working as a General Dentist in Winnipeg. As a dentist, I have a passion for continued learning, connecting with people of all ages, and creating a comfortable and inviting environment.
My goal as a Board Director, would be to increase community membership and involvement, as well as bridge the gap between Newcomers, Canadian-born Japanese, and those with a love for Japanese culture!
