Director – Alex Allen Chaput

Alex Allen Chaput

Alexandra Allen is a fourth generation Japanese Canadian. Born and raised in Winnipeg, she has been involved with JCAM from a young age – attending or volunteering at Folklorama, enjoying udon lunches, and even the Japanese school program. Most recently, Alex joined the Aurora Dance group and chaired their 25th anniversary fundraising event, Silk & Sake.
Alex has fond memories of being at the cultural centre – from being part of Folklorama and sharing the Japanese culture with others, to being with community at weekly dance practices. As a mom of two, she hopes to provide her kids with these same experiences.
This year, Alex and her mother Sandy (Oike) will be organizing the Things Japanese Sale, and bringing back the Japanese Family picnic. By joining the JCAM Board Alex would like to further contribute to the development of programs offered at the Cultural Centre for both JCAM Members and those interested in the Japanese culture.
Alex has a degree in Environmental Design (Interior Design) from the U of M, and a certificate in Building Construction from RRC Polytech. She is a Project Management Professional (PMP), gardener, and coffee lover.
